A Boutique Packing Team For Organized, Protected, Move-Ready Spaces

JP Urban Moving is a boutique white-glove moving company founded in Brooklyn and serving clients since 2010. Our packing service is designed for homes, apartments, offices, local moves, and long-distance relocations that need more than boxes. The team reviews what is being packed, who is responsible for each category, which items need specialty handling, what materials are appropriate, how boxes should be labeled, and how the packing plan connects to loading and delivery.
Clients can request full packing, partial packing, fragile-item support, selected-room packing, commercial packing, or reusable moving bins where available. The scope is reviewed by a moving consultant so the crew, materials, time, access, and client responsibilities are clear before work begins.
The objective is not simply to close every box. It is to leave the inventory protected, organized by room and priority, ready to travel through the actual building route, and easier to place or unpack at the destination.

The JP Urban Manhattan Move Process

Our process turns scattered move information into one coordinated operating plan. Each stage answers a different question and produces a clearer handoff to the people responsible for the next decision.

01. Move Discovery And Inventory Review

We document the origin, destination, preferred date, inventory, room structure, packing needs, specialty pieces, access notes, priorities, and known building contacts. Photos, lists, and client concerns are organized into a working Move Profile so the job is understood as a complete relocation, not only a truck reservation.

Stage result: a structured Move Profile with the open questions identified.

02. Quote Scope And Human Review

A moving consultant reviews the requested services, assumptions, labor and handling needs, and information that could change the scope. Our AI-supported internal workflow helps organize intake details, but pricing and planning decisions remain human-reviewed.

Stage result: a reviewed scope with inclusions, dependencies, and required clarifications visible before approval.

03. Video Walkthrough Or On-Site Assessment When Needed

A clear video may be enough for a straightforward move. Larger homes, offices, complex service routes, valuable interiors, oversized items, or uncertain access may require a guided video walkthrough or an on-site assessment. The review focuses on what cannot be understood from an inventory list alone.

Stage result: an Access And Building Risk Map covering the physical route and unresolved constraints.

04. Packing, Handling, And Protection Planning

The team defines what is packed by the client, what is packed by JP Urban, which pieces require custom handling, what may need disassembly, and how floors, walls, elevators, doorways, furniture, electronics, artwork, glass, mirrors, and other delicate surfaces should be protected.

Stage result: a Protection And Handling Plan tied to the actual inventory and property.

04. Dispatch, Foreman, Crew, And Truck Coordination

Dispatch aligns the approved scope with crew roles, truck timing, address notes, contact details, building windows, loading sequence, destination requirements, and any last confirmed changes. The foreman leads the physical execution on-site, while team communication and GPS-tracked trucks support move-day visibility.

Stage result: a Move-Day Run Sheet and a clear chain of responsibility from dispatch to the job site.

05. Delivery, Placement, Reassembly, And Follow-Up

At the destination, the work shifts from transportation to controlled completion: unloading sequence, placement, agreed reassembly, visible-condition concerns, remaining questions, and follow-up. The team retains the move history so an issue does not have to be reconstructed from the beginning.

Stage result: a documented completion with the final questions routed to the right team member.

Moving tips for Manhattan clients

This is where many move-day problems start. The client assumes the building is simple. The mover assumes access will work. Manhattan punishes both assumptions.

Confirm COI early

Most managed Manhattan buildings require a Certificate of Insurance. Share your building’s exact requirements in advance so the COI can be issued and submitted without delay.

Understand basic liability coverage

Standard mover liability is limited and may not reflect the actual value of furniture, electronics, art, or designer pieces. Review what basic coverage means before the move.

Consider additional valuation

Many Manhattan clients choose added valuation options for high-value furniture, artwork, electronics, antiques, and fragile items.

Reserve the elevator before you book the move window

The elevator schedule should shape the move plan. A short or unavailable window can change crew size, packing needs, and timing.

Ask about service entrances and loading rules

Some buildings restrict where movers can enter, stage items, or park. Send those instructions before move day.

Show us the complicated items early

TVs, mirrors, marble tables, oversized sectionals, pianos, air conditioners, printers, art, and antiques should be part of the plan before quote approval.

Three Manhattan Moves Where A Generic Plan Can Fail

These are representative planning scenarios, not customer stories. Each shows how several ordinary constraints can combine into one high-risk move.

A Co-Op Move At Risk Of Being Denied At The Door

The situation

The co-op requires exact COI wording, management approval, a reserved freight elevator, a protected service route, and a narrow weekday move window.

What can go wrong

One missing additional-insured name or late approval can leave a fully scheduled crew waiting outside. Losing the elevator window can then affect labor time, the destination reservation, and every commitment that follows.

JP Urban plan

We collect the building instructions, identify the approval contacts, connect the paperwork deadline to the elevator reservation, and align crew arrival with the confirmed access path rather than an assumed start time.

Controlled outcome

The move begins from an approved operating plan instead of depending on a last-minute conversation in the lobby.

A High-Rise Move With Art, Mirrors, And Designer Furniture

The situation

The elevator is reserved, but several pieces are fragile, oversized, or difficult to turn through the approved service route. The apartment and common areas also contain surfaces that cannot be treated like a standard loading path.

What can go wrong

A piece may reach the hallway and fail at the elevator opening or landing. Improvised tilting, unplanned disassembly, or inadequate protection can put the item, walls, flooring, elevator interior, and schedule at risk at the same time.

JP Urban plan
We review dimensions and route conditions, separate ordinary inventory from specialty handling, plan materials and protection by surface, define the loading order, and flag valuation questions before the item is in motion.
Controlled outcome

The most difficult pieces shape the plan in advance instead of becoming an emergency after the elevator window has opened.

An After-Hours Office Move With No Room For Downtime

The situation

A Manhattan office must relocate after business hours, clear building security, protect electronics and commercial furniture, use a limited loading route, and be functional again for the next work period.

What can go wrong

If departments, equipment, labels, access contacts, and destination placement are not coordinated, the truck may arrive on time while the business still loses hours finding critical items or rebuilding workstations.

JP Urban plan

We organize the move by operational priority, confirm after-hours contacts and access, connect packing and labeling to destination placement, and give dispatch and the foreman one sequence for loading, transport, unloading, and agreed reassembly.

Controlled outcome

The relocation is managed around business continuity, not merely around when the building allows the truck to enter.

See why clients trust JP Urban

At JP Urban Moving, we’re not simply a moving company; we’re your steadfast partners in transition, committed to ensuring your move is not just smooth, but also a positive experience.

Questions about Moving? Check out our FAQ page or our current blog articles.

Do you provide COI for NYC buildings?

Yes, we provide COIs.

NYC rental and condo come with – unique considerations that affect a move:

  • narrow stairways,
  • service vs tenant elevators,
  • parking and vehicle access concern, sand,
  • various rules and restrictions as to build access and public area usage.

Thus, we provide COIs to assure rules are honored.

Can you handle freight elevator scheduling?

Residential freight elevators in high density luxury buildings ensure that shared traffic areas are free of large deliveries and moves. It protects residents experience and design of hallways and other design elements

Professional experienced companies such as ours anticipate these concerns, facilitating fright elevator access moves.

Do you work with Brooklyn and Manhattan brownstones?

Brownstones, many times on narrow streets necessitate an awareness of alternative parking scheduling, single lane traffic considerations, closures, and cul-de-sacs. This is the case with many of our local move clients.

Add to that possible Brownstone historic preservation allowances should the residence be in a neighborhood such a Tutor City or Brooklyn Heights.

Do you follow NYC parking and traffic restrictions?

Considerations such as alternate street parking, closers, single lane streets, races and street fairs, most particularly Spring thru Early Winter, are pre planned into our Operations Team Dispatch calendar.

Are you licensed and insured?

All movers and vehicles are insured. Safe driving and parking are non-negotiable for all of our moving and relocation staff. These considerations and ongoing training regarding insurance and safety practices are foremost priorities.

Our drivers keep a keen eye on all other drivers on highways, as well as local city road pedestrians, cyclists and re-vehicles.
