Frequently Asked Questions About Moving
Are moving companies considered an essential business/essential service?
Moving companies are considered essential in New York City as per the current Executive Order. Which means we can move you, and we are prepared to move you safely with full precautions as prescribed by the CDC. Learn more about our COVID-19 Moving Safety Procedures Here
Just fill out the simple estimate request on our website. We’ll reply in a timely fashion.
While we are often available for last minute moves, it’s better to book as far in advance as you can.
We employ a 2-hour minimum.
As a general rule of thumb, certain things just can’t remain in the drawers when it comes time to move. Anything that is breakable or heavy should be removed from the drawers and carefully packed away separately. A few things that should definitely be removed from any drawers would be:
- Anything with glass.
- Any jewelry (it can be moved around and get stuck underneath drawers or fall out completely).
- Books, CDs, DVDs, etc. These items are just too heavy, and can cause damage to the furniture or to themselves and other items in the drawer.
Unless we are packing for you, we recommend emptying your drawers prior to the move. The furniture will be lifted, so it might make the piece unwieldy and cumbersome if it has an excessive amount of things. On occasions, the furniture may also need to be flipped on its side or upside-down, or the drawers may need to be removed. You would not want contents left inside that may get rattled around or fall out.
At the move-out location, we can generally remove artwork, TVs and AC’s; but at the move-in location, we cannot make holes in the wall, hang artwork, install AC's, hang TVs, etc.
Probably not. Our estimates are comprised of Travel Time, Time and Surcharges. While the Travel Time and Surcharges are fixed, the time will be determined by how long it takes to move you, and charged accordingly. Also, our estimates do not reflect charges for Materials, COIs, Tolls, Parking or Gratuities.
We offer various levels of Additional Valuation Protection - from $2K to $10K, with or without deductibles. Third party insurance over $10,000, we recommend MovingInsurance.com, with whom we are registered.
